NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team swept Marietta College in its home opener Wednesday night.
Westminster improved to 4-1 overall, while the Pioneers dropped to 2-4.
The Titans won set one, 25-19, set two, 25-14, and set three, 28-26. Westminster was down 18-17 in the first set, however, sealed the set-win with an 8-1 run. In set three, the Pioneers had set point with a 24-21 lead. The Titans, however, continued to battle and went in front, 25-24, after a service ace by first-year
Hannah Santom (Grove City, PA / Grove City). Marietta once again had set point (26-25), however, the Titans orchestrated a 3-0 run to seal the 28-26 victory.

Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) earned a match-high 10 kills, while junior
Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) and senior
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) each had nine kills. Dickson added a match-best two service aces, while Santom and Yoho each had one ace. Yoho and Saxton each tallied a team-best five blocks. Santom dished-out a match-high 23 assists, while junior
Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) had 12. Junior
Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) tied a match-best with 17 digs, followed by DeGeorge (13) and Dickson (9).
Westminster is back in action Saturday, September 9 for a home tri-match. The Titans open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play against Chatham University at 11 a.m., followed by a 3 p.m. match with Saint Vincent College.
