Softball: Titans Blank Waynesburg in PAC Doubleheader Sweep

WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Westminster College softball team swept Waynesburg University in shutout fashion in a road Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Tuesday.
 
The Titans won, 4-0, in the first game, and 9-0 in five innings in game two.
 
Westminster improved to 23-7 overall and 11-1 in the PAC, while Waynesburg dropped to 11-18-1 overall and 5-7-0 in conference play.
 
In game one, Titan sophomore Kailey Liverman (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley) connected on an RBI-triple in the first inning, scoring junior Emiley Westfall (Jefferson, OH / Perry). Junior Courtney Cohen (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington) brought home Liverman with a sacrifice fly and Westminster led 2-0. Cohen scored another run with a ground out in the third, bringing home senior Checka Nardone (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln). Junior pitcher Jazmyn Rohrer (Purcellville, VA / Woodgrove) added another run in the third with a sacrifice-fly, scoring Liverman. Rohrer improved to 13-1 on the mound after her ninth complete game. She struck out nine, her second-highest total of the season, and walked one.
 
In the second game, Westminster scored three runs in the second inning, one in the third, three in the fourth, and two in the fifth. Westfall, Liverman, and first-year Kayla Troxil (Canfield, OH / Canfield) each registered two RBIs, while senior Abby Rinard (Medina, OH / Highland), Nardone, and Rohrer had an RBI apiece. Troxil improved to 8-5 in the two-hit shutout win, while earning her third complete game of the season. She struck out two and walked one. Junior Courtney Dieterich (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley) went 3-for-3, while Troxil also had three hits. Nardone added two.
 
Westminster will next host Thiel College on Saturday, April 22 in a conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
