Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer: Saints Defeat Titans, 3-1

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.- The Westminster College men's soccer team lost to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thomas More College, 3-1, on the road Tuesday afternoon.
 
Westminster dropped to 8-8-1 overall and 3-4-0 in the PAC. Thomas More, who was regionally-ranked, improved to 11-4-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the conference.
 
Westminster got on the board first from sophomore Peter Mattocks's (Saegertown, PA / Saegertown) strike in the 27th minute. Freshman Nick Iregui (Gig Harbor, WA / Charles Wright Academy) received a corner kick at the far post and headed it to Mattocks in the center of the penalty box, giving the Titans a 1-0 lead. 
 
The Saints answered back in the 39th minute off the foot of Colton Dolezal. The match was tied, 1-1, at halftime.
 
Thomas More's Ethan Smith scored ten minutes into the second half, after receiving a pass from Brandon Lorentz, for its first lead of the game (2-1). The Saints widened the lead in the 79th minute with a goal from Zach Leffler. Thomas More held off the Titans the rest of the way.  
 
Westminster was outshot, 26-15, including 14-7 in the first half. The Saints also led in corner kicks, 10-4. Iregui posted a team-high five shots, including a team-best three on goal. Senior Jon Clark (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington) tallied two shots, including one on goal.
 
Titan freshman goalkeeper Chance Herbst (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls) finished with six saves in 90 minutes of work.
 
The Titans conclude the regular season Saturday, October 28 at home against Grove City College. Westminster will be commemorating the six seniors on its roster before the game. Start time of the match is set for 2 p.m.
