Men’s Basketball: Vrabel Scores Career-High 26 Points in Titans’ Win Over Bethany

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team won, 74-66, at home over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany College at home Saturday evening.
 
Titan junior Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) led all scorers with a career-high 26 points. Vrabel also registered his third double-double of the season as he grabbed down a game-high 12 rebounds, to go along with a team-high three blocks. Junior Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) (13), freshman Cameron Kane-Johnson (Niles, OH / Niles) (12), and sophomore Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) (10) also scored in double digits. Scott earned his eighth double-double of the season as has had 10 rebounds. Armwood dished out a team-high three assists. Vrabel and Scott each pocketed a team-high two steals.
 
The Titans outshot the Bison 41.0% (25-61) to 38.3% (23-60) and outrebounded Bethany 41-39.
 
Bethany (12-7, 7-5 PAC) was in front for the majority of the first half and had its largest lead, 15-8, with 14:17 on the clock. Westminster (12-7, 8-4 PAC) continued to battle and eventually tied the game at 33 with 3:09 remaining. The Bison got back in front and led 37-33 at halftime. The Titans began the second half with a 12-7 run, to take their first lead since early in the first half, 45-44, with 13:14 on the clock; Kane-Johnson capped off the run with a jumper. Westminster led by as much as five points twice before Bethany tied the game at 57 with 5:29 remaining. The Titans outscored the Bison 17-9 for the remainder of the contest to seal the win.
 
Westminster will next host Washington & Jefferson College Wednesday, February 1 at 8 p.m.
