GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Westminster College women's basketball team won its second-straight game after a 55-38 win at Thiel College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday afternoon.

Emily Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) led all scorers with 14 points. Senior
Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) also scored in double-digits with 11 points. First-year
Brooke Lyczek (Cranberry PA / Seneca) tallied eight points, while classmates
Aliya Gage (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) and
Kayla Bennett (Kent, OH / Theodore Roosevelt) each had seven. Junior
Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) tied a career-high with a game-high 11 rebounds, to go along with four points and a game-high three steals. Fromknecht, Bennett, and junior
Paige Quinn (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) each had five boards. Gage, Fromknecht, and Durbin dished out three assists apiece.
The Titans outscored the Tomcats 36-19 in the second half. For the game, Westminster outshot Thiel 32.2% (19-59) to 19.4% (12-62) and outrebounded the Tomcats 50-46. The Titan defense held Thiel to 0-for-20 behind the three-point line, a team who was fourth in the PAC in three-point field goals made per game.
Westminster (7-10, 2-8 PAC) started the game with an 8-0 run, capped off with a three-pointer by sophomore
Jackie Mathews (Pittsburgh, PA / OLSH), with 7:57 left in the first quarter. Thiel (4-12, 1-9 PAC) answered with its own 8-0 run and the game was tied at 8 with 4:24 on the clock. The Titans got back in front and held a 12-11 lead at the end of one. The Tomcats took their first lead of the game, 13-12, with 9:24 to play in the second quarter. The second quarter consisted of five lead changes and the game was tied at 19 at intermission. Thiel led 23-19 with 8:07 remaining in the third quarter, however, the Titans orchestrated a 13-0 run, capped off with a jumper by Bennett, to take their largest lead of the game, 32-23, with 1:11 left. Westminster led 33-25 at the end of three. The Titans took their first double-digit lead of the game, 40-30, after a jumper by Fromknecht with 4:52 remaining in the fourth. Westminster maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest.
The Titans are back on the court Wednesday, January 25 with a 6 p.m. game at Chatham University.
