Football: Titans Shut Out Hiram in 2016 Season Opener

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College football team opened its 2016 season with a 40-0 win over Hiram College in a non-conference contest under the lights of Harold Burry Stadium Saturday night.
 
Junior Jametrius Bentley (Lake Worth, FL / Park Vista Community) returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown, putting Westminster in front 6-0. The Titans added another score in the first half with a 1-yard run by sophomore Bill Madeja (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood), extending Westminster's lead to 12-0 with 4:10 remaining before halftime. 
 
Bentley added another score in the third quarter with a 29-yard touchdown catch with 4:05 on the clock. An extra point by senior Justin Dahl (Cochranton, PA / Maplewood) made the score 19-0. Freshman Bryce Hill (Boynton Beach, FL / Boca Raton Community) added a second score in the third with an 18-yard run with 32 second remaining in the quarter. The Titans led 26-0 after a Dahl extra point.
 
Columbo added another touchdown toss in the fourth quarter, finding sophomore Lareese Jackson (West Palm Beach, FL / American Heritage) from 29 yards out. Dahl's extra point put the Titans in front 33-0 with 14:21 to play. Freshman Keano Grice (Delray Beach, FL / West Boca Raton Community) scored the final touchdown with a 28-yard run with 7:35 on the clock. After Dahl's extra point, the Titans led 40-0.
 
Westminster outgained Hiram in total yards 449-174, including a 265-48 in rushing. Titan junior Dominique McKinley (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg-Salem) led on the ground with 81 yards on 19 carries. Columbo went 11 of 16 with a game-high 184 yards passing with two touchdowns and an interception. 
 
Sophomore Miguel Luis (Hollywood, FL / Mater Academy) led the Titan defense with seven tackles, followed by senior David Jamieson (Brookfield, OH / Brookfield) with six. Junior CJ Armstrong (Lake Worth, FL / Park Vista) and senior Loren Kumher (Mount Jewett, PA / Kane) each recorded a sack. Armstrong and Senior Wayne Seamans (New Castle, PA / Union) each had an interception.
 
Westminster will next host Waynesburg University on Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m.
