Men’s Basketball: Titans Conclude Buzz Ridl Classic with 90-61 Win Over Penn State Beaver

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team won, 90-61, over Penn State Beaver in its final day as hosts of the Buzz Ridl Classic.
 
Junior Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) and junior Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) led the Titan offense with a game-high 19 points each. Domenick connected on a game-high five three-pointers. Also scoring in double-digits for Westminster were sophomore Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) (12) and junior Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) (11). Scott earned a double-double as he grabbed down a game-high 13 rebounds. Domenick and Armwood each had a team-high three assists. Vrabel added a game-high three blocks.
 
The Titans led 9-0 to start the game, which was capped off with a three-pointer by Armwood, who made four on Saturday, with 17:03 on the clock. Westminster took a double-digit lead (17-7) when Scott converted on a traditional three-point play. The Nittany Lions cut Westminster's lead to 20-15 with 9:56 on the clock, however, the Titans' would not let the margin become any smaller for the rest of the half and led 37-27 at intermission. In the second half, Westminster outscored Penn State Beaver, 53-34, including 29-11 in the final 11 minutes.
 
The Titans outshot the Nittany Lions, 41.9% (31-74) to 28.4% (19-67) and outrebounded Penn State Beaver, 54-42.
 
Westminster improved to 2-0 on the season (the Titans won, 89-62, over Pitt-Greensburg in its first game of the Classic on Friday night). The Nittany Lions dropped to 3-2 on the year. In the first game of the Classic on Saturday, Thiel won 94-50 over Pitt-Greensburg.
 
Westminster is back in action Tuesday, November 22 with a non-conference game at Division I Youngstown State University. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
