Men’s Basketball: Titans Fall to PAC Powerhouse Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team scored its second-lowest point total of the season, as the Titans lost 63-39 at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Saint Vincent College on Saturday.

The Titans shot a season-low 22.4% (11-49). The Bearcats out-rebounded the Titans 50-35.

Saint Vincent (15-6, 10-2 PAC) led 13-5 with 13:31 remaining in the first half. Westminster (5-16, 2-10 PAC) responded with a 7-2 run to cut Saint Vincent's lead to 15-12 after freshman Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) made a pair of free throws with 9:33 on the clock. The Bearcats, however, took a commanding 19-point lead (31-12) with 4:40 remaining and led 37-18 at halftime.

The Titans made a 7-0 run to start the second half, cutting Saint Vincent's lead to 37-25, after sophomore Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) found junior Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) for a three-pointer with 17:57 on the clock. Westminster, however, was unable to get any closer for the remainder of the contest.

Titan freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) led the Titan offense with 12 points, including a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Carswell and Domenick scored nine and seven points, respectively. Carswell led Westminster on the glass with eight rebounds, while freshman Tre Major (New Castle, PA / Union) had six.

Westminster's lowest point total this season came against the Bearcats at home last month when the Titans lost 69-37.

The Titans will look to snap a four-game skid when it travels to Bethany on Wednesday with a game start of 8 p.m.
