Men’s Basketball: Pozsgai Shines Again at Geneva in Titans’ Win

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - Westminster College sophomore Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) scored 10 of the Titans' 13 points in overtime, helping the Westminster men's basketball team win 88-85 at Geneva College in overtime on Saturday. Pozsgai tied his career-high with 19 points.

Last season at Geneva, Pozsgai scored the game-winning three-pointer as time expired in Westminster's 80-77 overtime victory.

In a back-and-forth first half, the game was tied eight different times. The Titans held a slight 38-36 lead at halftime. Sophomore Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) put Westminster in front after a layup with 30 seconds left.

The game continued to be close until the Titans took a commanding 73-65 lead after freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) found sophomore Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) for a layup with 3:53 remaining in the game. The Golden Tornadoes responded and out-scored the Titans 10-2 for the remainder of regulation to tie the game at 75 forcing overtime.

Westminster was in front for most of overtime and took an 88-85 lead after Pozsgai split a pair of free throws with nine seconds remaining. Geneva had a chance to tie it, but a three-point attempt with one second on the clock fell short.

Four Titans scored in double-figures, led by Getsy who shot a season-high with 22 points to go along with eight rebounds. Scott and Pozsgai scored 19 points each, while Pilarski added 11. Scott led on the glass with a game-high 13 rebounds. Freshman Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) added nine points.

Geneva slightly out-shot Westminster 46.9% (30-64) to 46.2% (30-65). The Titans out-rebounded the Golden Tornadoes 45-33.

Geneva (10-15, 7-9 PAC), the sixth seed, will play at the third-seeded Bethany College in the Quarterfinals of the 2014-15 PAC Championship Tournament on Wednesday.

The eighth-seeded Westminster (6-19, 3-13 PAC) will host the ninth-seeded Washington & Jefferson College in the conference's play-in game on Monday at 7 p.m. The winner from Monday will play at top-seeded Saint Vincent on Tuesday in the Quarterfinals. The Titans split their season series with W&J as they won 92-50 at W&J on January 21 and lost 61-50 at home to the Presidents on February 18.
