Men’s Basketball: Washington & Jefferson Upsets the Titans

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost 61-50 to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington & Jefferson College at home on Wednesday.

The loss was Westminster's seventh straight, while W&J's win marked its first in the PAC this year.

Westminster (5-19, 2-13) was up 18-17 with 5:33 to play in the first half, however Washington & Jefferson (2-22, 1-14) orchestrated an 11-0 run to take a 28-18 lead with 1:56 on the clock. The Presidents led 28-20 at halftime. In the second half, the Titans got within six points (47-41) of W&J's lead with 7:34 remaining, but were unable to get any closer.

Junior Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) led the Titan offense with a game-high 19 points. Sophomore Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) also scored in double-digits with 13 points. Freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) led Westminster on the glass with 11 rebounds. Freshman Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) added nine points.

W&J out-shot Westminster 50.0% (28-56) to 29.0% (18-62), while the Titans held a 39-37 rebound edge.

Westminster will play at Geneva College on Saturday for its final regular season game. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
