Men’s Basketball: Thiel Hands Titans Sixth-Straight Loss

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost 66-48 at home to Thiel College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday.

Westminster (5-18, 2-12 PAC) led 9-2 after freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) made a layup with 16:00 minutes on the clock. Westminster led by the same (21-14) with 8:44 remaining in the first half, however, Thiel (12-11, 8-6 PAC) went on a 17-0 run to take a commanding 31-21 lead with 2:46 on the clock. The Titans cut into Thiel's lead and were down 33-27 at halftime.

The Titans got within six points of Thiel's lead (43-37) after sophomore Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) found Scott for a layup with 13:46 to play. That, however, was the closest Westminster would get as the Tomcats out-scored the Titans 23-11 for the remainder of the contest.

Junior Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) led the Titan offense with 15 points. Also scoring in double-digits for Westminster was Scott with 10 points, to go along with his team-high eight rebounds. Freshman Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) added six points and six rebounds, to go along with a team-high three assists.

For the game, Thiel out-shot Westminster 47.5% (29-61) to 28.1% (16-57) and held a slight 39-38 rebound edge.

Westminster will host Washington & Jefferson College on Wednesday for its last home regular season game of the year. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
