MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team opened its 2015-16 season with a 79-57 loss to Allegheny College in day one of the Allegheny Classic on Friday.
Titan sophomore
Danielle Dindak (West Homestead, PA / Serra Catholic) led all scorers with a career-high 21 points, including a career-high six three-point field goals, which tied for most in a single game in program history.
Westminster (0-1) led 11-10 in the first period after Dindak found her teammate for a layup with 4:13 on the clock. Allegheny (2-1), however, responded with an 8-1 run to take a 18-12 lead at the end of the first.
In the second period, the Gators took their first double-digit lead (24-12) after a three-pointer by Jessica Mrdjenovich with 8:34 on the clock and had their largest lead of the half (44-20) with 1:37 remaining.
Junior
Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) seven points. Durbin and
Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) led Westminster on the glass with five rebounds each. Durbin added a game-high four assists.
Westminster will play its final game of the Classic on Saturday versus Muskingum University (0-2) at 3 p.m.
