LORETTO, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 103-72, at Division I Saint Francis University in a non-conference game Tuesday night.
The Red Flash led 25-7 with 12:50 to play in the first half. The Titans, however, kept battling and pulled within two points (39-37) after a 30-14 run, capped off by a three-pointer by sophomore
Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield). Saint Francis responded with a 13-2 run to end the half and led 52-39 at halftime.
The Titans had four scorers in double-digits, led by senior
Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) with 14 points. Vrabel registered 11 points, while junior John Arcuri (Oakmont, PA / Saint Joseph) and junior
Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) tallied 10 points each. Sophomore
Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) and junior
Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) added nine and eight points, respectively. Domenick also had a team-high three three-pointers and led Westminster with five assists. Vrabel led the Titans on the glass with six rebounds, followed by Pozsgai with four.
Saint Francis out-shot Westminster 46.6% (34-73) to 36.5% (23-63) and held a 53-32 rebound-advantage.
Westminster is back in action when it hosts its annual Buzz Ridl Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Titans will play Heidelberg University at 8 p.m. on Friday and Hiram College at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
