Swimming & Diving: Titans Sweep Bethany in PAC Dual Opener

FINAL RESULTS

BETHANY, W. Va. - The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams swept Bethany College in the Titans' Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual opener.

The Westminster men's team won 142-118, while the women's team won 162-46.

The Titans won a total of 20 events (11 for the women's team and nine for the men's), not including nine exhibition events in which Westminster used exhibition swimmers/divers.

The 200 medley relay team consisting of junior Anne Tillie (Fallston, MD / Fallston), junior Mikayla Morrow (Columbiana, OH / Homeschooled), senior Kelsey Reott (Butler, PA / Slippery Rock), and sophomore Megan Douds (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) won with a time of 2:01.46. Douds also won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:06.39.

Tillie finished first in the 200 butterfly at 2:18.55 and tied with first-year Katarina Braun (Butler, PA / Homeschooled) for a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:19.87). Braun also touched first in the 1,000 freestyle at 11:33.55.

Also picking up wins for the women's team were: sophomore Cassidy Kovacicek (Washington, PA / Trinity) (100 backstroke) (1:06.94), senior Sara Peace (Darlington, PA / Blackhawk) (100 breaststroke) (1:14.05), first-year Cheyenne Cleveland (Greenock, PA / Elizabeth Forward) (50 freestyle) (26.40), junior Sarah Pace (Cranberry Township, PA / Oakland Catholic) (100 freestyle) (57.69), sophomore Stephanie Dorsch (Harmony, PA / Seneca Valley) (1-meter diving ) (184.05), and first-year Patricia Loughney (Buckhannon, WV / Buckhannon Upshur) ( 200 breaststroke) (2:42.23).

The 200 medley relay team, including senior Austin Karper (Carlisle, PA / Carlisle), senior Matthew Baurle (Jeannette, PA / Penn Trafford), freshman Michael Spencer (Clearfield, PA / Clearfield), and freshman Griffin Nincke (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley), won with a time of 1:56.67. Karper, Nincke, and Spencer also picked up individual wins as Karper won the 1,000 freestyle (10:46.86), Nincke won the 200 freestyle (1:48.80), and Spencer won the 100 backstroke (58.01).

Also picking up victories for the Titans were: freshman Luke Simmons (Ashland, OH / Ashland) (100 breaststroke) (1:04.55), sophomore Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) (200 butterfly) (2:04.36), junior Max Hague (Canton, OH / Glenoak) (50 freestyle) (22.83), freshman David Peffer (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside) (100 freestyle) (50.70), and junior Adam Smale (Monclova, OH / St. John's Jesuit) (200 breaststroke) (2:26.98).

Westminster will next host Allegheny College next Saturday at 1 p.m.
