GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost 56-38 to Grove City College on the road Wednesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
With the loss, the Titans drop to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in the PAC. With the win, Grove City improves to 5-7 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
Down 19-8 with 8:38 remaining in the first half, the Titans went on an 8-2 run to cut Grove City's lead to 21-16 with 4:44 on the clock. The Wolverines, however, out-scored Westminster 10-0 to take a 31-16 halftime lead.
The Titans got within 11 points of Grove City's lead after a three-pointer by Jenna Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) with 10:59 remaining in the second half, however that would be the closest Westminster would get.
Senior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) led the Titans with 11 points, while Grandy bucketed nine points. Sophomore Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) tied a career-high with a team-high seven rebounds. Borts added six rebounds.
Grove City out-shot Westminster 40.4% (23-57) to 30.2% (13-43). Both teams had 34 rebounds.
Westminster will look for its first PAC win on Saturday when it travels to Thiel College with a 1 p.m. start time.
