Men’s Basketball: OT Buzzer-Beater Downs Titans at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost 72-69 in overtime at Grove City College after the Wolverines made a three-point field goal as time ran out.

With the loss, the Titans drop to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). With the win, Grove City improves to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Grove City took a 20-10 lead with 11:51 remaining in the first half. Westminster went on a 19-10 run to cut Grove City's lead to 30-29 with 1:22 on the clock. The Wolverines led 31-29 at halftime.

The Titans took a 41-34 lead, their largest of the game, with 14:02 remaining in the second half when freshman Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) found classmate Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) for a three-pointer. The Wolervines responded with an 8-0 run to take a 42-41 lead with 10:52 remaining.

Grove City remained in front until Domenick found sophomore Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) for a three-pointer, giving the Titans a 60-58 lead with 1:01 left in regulation.  The Wolverines tied it 60-60 after a pair of free throws, forcing overtime.

In extra minutes, the Titans knotted the game 69-69 after Vrabel found Domenick with eight seconds remaining. On its next possession, Grove City clinched the 72-69 victory with a three-pointer as time expired.

Pozsgai tied a game-high with a career-high 19 points, to go along with seven rebounds. Also scoring in double-digits for Westminster was freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) with 13 points.  Vrabel added nine points and seven boards. Scott had a team-high eight rebounds. Domenick dished out a game-high seven assists.

The Titans are back in action Saturday when they compete at Thiel College. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
