WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost 71-41 to Washington & Jefferson College on the road Wednesday night.
The Presidents (12-4, 6-3 PAC) took their first double-digit lead at the 11:12 mark in the first half with a 12-2 lead. The Titans (3-13, 2-7 PAC) cut W&J's lead to six points (16-10) after sophomore Shelby Brown (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) found classmate Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) for a three-point field goal with 5:06 on the clock. The Presidents, however, outscored the Titans 14-2 for the remainder of half and led 30-12 at halftime. W&J maintained its double-digit lead in the second half and led by as much as 30 points on two occasions.
Westminster shot a season-low 22.0% (11-50) from the field, while W&J shot 42.2% (27-64). The Presidents also out-rebounded the Titans 49-34.
Durbin led the Titan offense as she tied a game-high 11 points. Senior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) added nine points, while first-year Allison Bell (Cortland, OH / Maplewood) registered a career-high eight points. First-year Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) and Bell led Westminster on the glass with five rebounds each.
The Titans will host Chatham University at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
