NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team won its second-straight Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest after a 66-57 win at home against Geneva College on Saturday.
The Titans (3-12, 2-6 PAC) shot a season-best 50% (23-46) from the field, led by senior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) who shot 8-for-10 for a game-high 20 points.
Westminster led by 12-4 with 13:44 remaining in the first half. Geneva (4-11, 2-6 PAC) responded with a 19-10 run to take its first lead of the game at 23-22 with 5:34 to go in the half. The Titans quickly regained the lead and outscored the Golden Tornadoes 12-4 for the remainder of the half to take a 34-27-halftime lead.
The Titans did not let Geneva get closer than eight points for the remainder of the contest and led by as much as 16 points when sophomore Shelby Brown (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) drained two free throws with 2:40 left.
Also scoring in double digits for Westminster was sophomore Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) with 13 points, including a team-best three three-point field goals. Brown grabbed down a game- and career-high 12 rebounds to go along with a season-high nine points. Senior Jenna Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) added eight points, while Borts had eight rebounds.
Westminster will look to make it three-straight wins when it travels to Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
