Men’s Basketball: Titans Top Geneva, 73-56, for First PAC Win

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team snapped a six-game losing streak after a 73-56 win at home versus Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Geneva College for its first PAC win of the season on Saturday.

Titan sophomore Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) scored a season- and game-high 14 points.

Westminster (4-12, 1-6 PAC), who was in front for the entire first half, had a 32-15 lead with 5:47 remaining. Geneva (6-10, 3-4 PAC) cut the Titans' lead to 10 points (38-28) after a 13-6 run to end the half.

The Golden Tornadoes got within seven points (38-31) after a three-pointer with 19:24 to play. The Titans responded with a 13-2 run to take an 18-point lead (51-33), which was capped off with a three-pointer by sophomore Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars). Westminster maintained its double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest.

In addition to Pilarski, three other Titans scored in double-figures. Getsy and junior Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) scored 13 points each, while junior Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) registered 12 points. Wallander led on the glass with a game- and team-high 12 rebounds. Freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) added eight points and six boards, while classmate Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) netted nine points and dished out a game-high six assists.

Westminster out-shot Geneva 44.3% (27-61) to 37.3% (19-51) and out-rebounded the Golden Tornadoes 42-37.

The Titans are back on the court Wednesday when they travel to Washington & Jefferson College. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
