GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost 69-49 on the road against Thiel College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday.
Thiel (7-6, 4-1) took a 27-11 lead, its largest of the first half with 4:24 remaining in the first half. Westminster (3-10, 0-4), responded with an 11-4 run to cut the Tomcats' lead to 31-22 at halftime.
Westminster got within seven points of the Tomcats' lead (37-30) in the second half after freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) converted on a traditional three-point play with 14:02 on the clock. That, however, would be the closest the Titans would get.
Scott led all scorers with 18 points. Junior Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) added 10 points. Scott and Wallander led the Titans with eight rebounds each.
Thiel out-shot Westminster 52.8% (28-53) to 29.6% (16-54). The Titans held a 34-32 rebound advantage.
Westminster enters a three-game home stretch next week, beginning with Waynesburg University on Monday at 8 p.m.
