PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost, 72-47, to La Roche College on the road Wednesday night.
With the loss, the Titans fall to 1-6 overall. With the win, the Redhawks improve to 6-3 overall. Â
First-year Kristine Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) led the Titans with nine points. Senior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) registered seven points. Fromknecht and Borts led Westminster on the glass with six rebounds each. Sophomore Morgan Haibach (Corry, PA / Corry Area) dished out a team-high three assists.
The game was tied 14-14 with 9:45 remaining in the first half. La Roche, however, finished the half with a 22-6 run to lead 36-20 at halftime. The Redhawks maintained their double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest.
For the game, La Roche out-shot Westminster 42.0% (29-69) to 34.1% (15-44) and held a slight 36-33 rebound edge. La Roche's defense forced 30 turnovers, while Westminster forced 16.
Westminster is back on the courts Monday, December 29, when it hosts Pitt-Greensburg at 4 p.m.
