NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team won, 46-40, over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Geneva College Saturday inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. The Golden Tornadoes made it close as they outscored the Titans 19-4 in the final nine minutes of the game. Westminster improved to 6-9 overall and 4-4 in the conference, while Geneva dropped to 2-13 overall and 0-8 in the PAC.

In the first half, Westminster got on the scoreboard after a jumper from senior Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) which cut Geneva's lead in half, 4-2, with 15:24 on the clock. Junior Hannah Shaffer (Apollo, PA / Apollo-Ridge) earned the assist. The Titans took their first lead of game, 7-4, at the 12:41 mark when senior Jenn Cantella (Freedom, PA / Freedom) found Shaffer for a three-pointer. With 8:26 left to play in the first frame, Westminster went on an 11-0 run to take its largest lead of the half, 25-12. The Titans led 30-18 at intermission.

Westminster had a commanding 42-21 lead with 9:46 left in the second half, however the Golden Tornadoes closed in on Westminster's lead as they outscored the Titans 19-4 in the final nine minutes of the game.

Westminster sophomore Jenna Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) scored a team-high 12 points (5-for-9), all coming in the first half. Junior Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Alvernia) followed with 11 points. Hughes and Shaffer added eight points each. Rounding out the scorers for the Titans was senior Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, NY / Starpoint) who scored five points.

Leah Prisuta led Geneva with team-highs of 13 points and nine rebounds.  

The Titans are back in action on Wednesday when they host Grove City at 6 p.m.
