LATROBE, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team could not recover from a 5-for-26 (19.2%) shooting performance in the first half as it lost to Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Saint Vincent 66-44.
The Titans dropped to 4-12 overall and 4-6 in the PAC, while the Bearcats improved to 14-3 overall and 9-1 in the conference.
The Bearcats started the game strong and capped an 8-0 run in the first two minutes of the game and held a commanding 40-13 halftime lead. Saint Vincent captured its highest lead of the game up 55-23 in the second half after an Ariel Rocco jumper.
For the game, Saint Vincent outshot Westminster 39.3% (22-for-56) to 30.8% (16-for-52). The Bearcats also outrebounded the Titans 42-33.
Sophomore Courtney Zitt (Latrobe, PA / Greater Latrobe) led Westminster with 11 points with a 4-for-11 shooting performance. Freshman Jenna Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) scored a career-high 10 points. Senior Emily Dolsak (McDonald, OH / McDonald) led the Titans on the glass with six rebounds.
The Bearcats' Brittany Sedlock had a game-high 17 points, while Emily Fenton scored 16. Devin McGrath earned a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Titans are back on the hardwood next Wednesday (Jan. 25) as they host Waynesburg at 6 p.m.
