Lady Titans Fall 65-62 to Bethany

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball fell in a hard fought game, 65-62, versus Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany College. The Titans dropped to 3-11 overall and 3-5 in the PAC and the Bison improved to 9-6 overall and 5-3 in league play.

The Bison controlled the first half with their bench scoring 20 points and led 34-31 at halftime.

Sophomore Courtney Zitt ( Latrobe, PA / Greater Latrobe) gave the Titans their first lead of the game (40-38) at the 16:34 mark in the second half after a successful traditional three-point play conversion with the assist going to senior Emily Montone (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville).

Westminster was down 60-63 with nine seconds left, but was unable to tie it with a three-pointer.

Junior Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) led Westminster with her fourth career double-double with game-highs of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Zitt scored 13 to go along with seven rebounds. Senior Emily Dolsak (McDonald, OH / McDonald) chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Alvernia) and junior Danielle Gilmore (Washington, PA / Trinity) added eight and six points, respectively.

Bethany outshot Westminster 36.5% (23-for-63) to 30% (18-for-60). Westminster dominated the glass with a 53-37 rebound advantage.

The Titans are back in action next Wednesday as they host Geneva at 6:00 p.m.
