Women's Basketball: Chatham Uses Buzzer-Beater for Comeback Win Over Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team fell victim to a buzzer-beater as the Titans lost 57-55 at home to Chatham in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game Saturday. Chatham's Felicia Brown hauled in rebound on the right baseline and launched a 17-foot jumper as time expired to give the Cougars the come-from-behind win.

Westminster falls to 4-17 on the season and 0-13 in the PAC, while Chatham improves to 8-13 overall and 4-9 in league play.

The Titans led by as many as 14 points, 50-36, with 9:52 remaining in the game, before Chatham went on a 14-0 run to tie the game at 50-50 with 6:20 left.

Westminster regained the lead only once as freshman guard Courtney Zitt (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) hit a 3-pointer with 4:46 left for three of her eight points.

After Chatham's Lizz King put the Cougars up 55-53 with a jumper at the 1:20 mark, Westminster tied the game with 29 seconds left on a lay-up by junior forward Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald).

King led all scorers with 19 points and Dolsak led the Titans 11 points and eight rebounds.

Chatham missed a pair of 3-pointers on its final possession, included one with four seconds left that was rebounded by Brown before she sank the game-winner.

Kayla Hilko also scored 14 points for Chatham, while other notables scorers for the Titans were freshman point guard Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Alvernia) with nine and sophomore forward Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Starpoint) with eight.

Westminster outshot the Cougars, 40.4 percent (19-47) to 38.9 percent (21-54), and out-rebounded Chatham, 37-30. The Titans committed 22 turnovers to the Cougars' 14.

The Titans travel to Washington & Jefferson Wednesday at 6 p.m.
