Men's Basketball: Titans Shoot Well, Make Quick Work of Bearcats

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak by making quick work out of Saint Vincent, 69-44, on Wednesday night at the Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

The Titans improve to 6-13 on the season and the Bearcats drop to 5-14. Westminster sweeps the season series against Saint Vincent.

Senior forward Ryne Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) came off the bench and scored a game-high 20 points, including 14 points in the first half, to go with a team-high tying six rebounds. Murray shot 7-16 from the floor including a sizzling 6-8 shooting from 3-point range.

Freshman guard Liam Halferty (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) scored 13 points for Westminster, one shy of a career high which came in Westminster's 82-73 win at Saint Vincent earlier this season.

Sophomore forward Rob Briggs (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) was Westminster's other double-figure scorer with 11 points. Another notable for Westminster was sophomore guard Anthony DeFelice (Poland, Ohio/Poland Seminary), who scored five points while dishing out a game-high four assists and tying Murray for a team-high six rebounds.

B.J. McGill led Saint Vincent with 16 points, while Stephon Berry bucketed 10 points to go with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Shooting was the difference in the game as Westminster shot 41.5 percent (27-65) from the floor including an impressive 50 percent (12-24) from 3-point range. Saint Vincent shot just 28.3 percent (17-60) from the field.

The Titans jumped to a 37-10 lead before leading 43-18 at halftime. The second half was all Westminster as well with the Titans leading by as many as 25 points and no fewer than 17 points.
