Men's Basketball: Westminster Too Much for Waynesburg in PAC Play

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Five players scored in double figures for the Westminster College men's basketball team in Saturday's 83-75 win at home over Waynesburg in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.

Junior forward Ryne Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) came off the bench for the first time this season and posted team-high totals with 15 points, four assists, three steals, and two blocks. Murray also snared seven rebounds.

Freshman forward Rob Briggs (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) also came off the bench for the first time this year and scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds.

Five Titans made their first starts of the season, including sophomore Louie Pisani (Saint Marys, Pa./Saint Marys) bucketing a career-high 14 points.

Other players scoring double digits included sophomore guard Max Spinner (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) with 12 points and senior guard Bobby Glass (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) with 10 points.

Waynesburg's Dan Happe scored a game-high 21 points, including 5-14 shooting from 3-point range, while three other Yellow Jackets bucketed 13 points apiece, including Zack Engel, Jason Clark, and Ryan Courneen.

Waynesburg trailed by four points on two occasions later in the first half before Westminster led 36-28 at halftime. The Titans took their largest lead of the game, a 23-point, 61-38 advantage, at the 13:16 mark of the second half. The Yellow Jackets slowly forged back within eight points with 1:43 left but the Titans were able to maintain at least a seven-point gap the rest of the way.

The Titans shot 42.6 percent (29-68) from the floor compared to Waynesburg at 40.3 percent (29-72).

Westminster is off until it travels to Thiel on Saturday, Feb. 14, for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
