WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team's season came to a close Tuesday night with a 70-57 loss at Washington & Jefferson in the first round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament. The Titans, the No. 7 seed in the tournament, finish the season with an 8-17 record. No. 2 W&J, now 23-3, advances to play No. 3 Bethany on Friday at Thomas More.

Freshman forward Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) led the Titans with 17 points on 8-11 shooting, while senior guard Gina Brunetti (Canfield, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) bucketed 11 points including a pair of 3-pointers. Junior guard Amy Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) sank nine points, all on 3-4 shooting from 3-point range, while pulling down a team-high six rebounds.

Three Presidents scored in double figures led by Maggie Gibson with 19 points, followed by Emily Hays with 16 and Veronica Kust with 13 points.

The Titans shot 48.8 percent (20-41) from the floor including 55.7 percent (5-9) from 3-point range. The Presidents shot 43.6 percent (24-55) from the field and 25 percent (3-12) from 3-point range.

Westminster committed 22 turnovers and only induced nine W&J turnovers.

The Titans threatened an upset early in the game as WC led by three points (24-21) with four minutes left in the first half before W&J led 29-26 at halftime.

W&J controlled the second half by going up by 12 points (48-36) at the 12:11 mark. The Titans came back and chopped the lead down to seven points (58-51) with 5:27 left, but the Presidents quickly retook a double-figure lead to secure the win.
