Women's Basketball: Five Titans Score in Double Figures in Loss at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team absorbed an 86-60 loss at Thiel Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.

The Titans (7-15, 4-9 PAC) fall to seventh place in the league standings with a loss to the Tomcats (10-12, 5-8 PAC) who are in fifth place as of Saturday afternoon with Grove City (5-7) playing Waynesburg (4-7) on Saturday night.

Five players scored points for Westminster including four of the five starters scoring in double figures. Junior guard Amy Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) led the Titans with 18 points and five rebounds. Her younger sister, freshman Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald), bucketed 15 points, one point shy of her career high.

Other double-digit scorers for the Titans included sophomore guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville, Ohio/Lowellville) with 12 points and senior guard Gina Brunetti (Canfield, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) depositing 11 points. McCarthy led the Titans with four assists.

Amber Bodrick led Thiel with 32 points and 10 rebounds on 13-28 shooting. Ashley Davis also scored 16 points.

Westminster out-shot Thiel, making 47.7 percent (21-44) from the floor compared to the Tomcats with 45.9 percent (34-74) shooting. However, the Titans committed 25 turnovers and induced just six Thiel turnovers, resulting in the Tomcats taking 30 more shots than the Titans.

Thiel stormed out to a 21-6 lead in the first half before leading by 21 points, 43-22, at halftime. The Titans could only cut that lead down to 14 points as Tomcats would go up by as many as 31 points.

Westminster returns to action at Bethany on Wednesday, Feb. 18, for a 6 p.m. start.
