NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team remained unbeaten in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play with a 62-50 win at home over Chatham on Wednesday.
The Titans are now 3-5 overall and 2-0 in the PAC, while the Cougars drop to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.
Freshman guard Jenn Cantella (Freedom, Pa./Freedom) came off the bench and led the Titans with 13 points, including 3-6 shooting from 3-point range. Sophomore forward Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) tossed in nine points to go with five rebounds. Freshman guard Danielle Gilmore (Washington, Pa./Trinity) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go with her five points.
Andre'a Thompson led the Cougars with 19 points and nine rebounds while Lizz King bucketed 11 points.
Westminster shot 39.2 percent (20-51) from the field, while Chatham fired 35.3 percent (18-51). The Titans held a 43-29 rebound advantage and both teams committed 24 turnovers.
Chatham surged ahead 12-2 early led nearly the entire first half before Westminster captured a 29-28 halftime lead. The Titans later went up by as many as six points before Chatham came back and held leads of 43-40 and 44-43 with 8:18 to go in the game. Both teams then went on a three-minute scoring draught and, after both teams traded baskets, Westminster ended the game on a 17-4 run.
Westminster hosts Thomas More on Saturday at 2 p.m.
