Men's Basketball: Penn State Behrend Defeats Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team suffered a 71-49 loss at home against Penn State Behrend Wednesday in non-conference action. The Titans are now 2-5 on the season. The Lions improve to 5-1.

Freshman guard Ron Martino (Boardman, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) came off the bench and led the Titans with 10 points. Junior starting guard Max Spinner (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) and freshman reserve guard Liam Halferty (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) bucketed nine points apiece.

Freshman forward Adam Carswell (Painesville, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) pulled down a team-high six rebounds to go with six points.

Adam Kaiser led the Lions with 17 points, followed by Chris Saltzman with 10.

Behrend shot 56.5 percent (26-46) from the field compared to Westminster at 35.7 percent (15-42).

The Lions ran out to a 15-2 before leading 40-18 at halftime. Behrend led by as many as 31 points (57-26 with 12:47 remaining) before coasting to the 22-point victory.

Westminster hosts Thomas More Saturday at 4 p.m.
