Men's Basketball: Titans Eliminated From PAC Playoffs With Season-Ending Loss to Thomas More

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team's season came to end Tuesday night with a 95-79 loss at home against Thomas More in the first round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament.

The fourth-seeded Titans finish the season with a 7-19 record while fifth-seeded Thomas More (11-15) advances to Thursday's semifinal round.

Senior guard Craig Hannon (New Castle, Pa./Union) led the Titans with a game-high 31 points on 10-12 shooting from the field including 4-5 from 3-point range. He also sank all seven of his free throws. The game marked Hannon's 13th game with 20 or more points this season, including his third 30-point game. Westminster's all-time leading scorer and 3-pointer shooter, Hannon finishes his career with 1,717 points and 355 3-pointers.

Other notables for Westminster included sophomore Ryne Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds and five assists. Freshman guard Brady Sherrieb (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) scored a career-high 12 points and junior guard David Richards (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) bucketed nine.

Thomas More had five players score in double figures led by Matty Owens with 17 points and Mark Tinklenberg with 15. Thomas More shot 53.1 percent (34-64) from the field and Westminster shot 48.3 percent (28-58), including 41.7 percent (15-36) from 3-point range.

The Saints held a comfortable lead the entire game. After Thomas More led 47-36 at halftime, Westminster trimmed the lead down to five points (50-45) with two minutes into the second half on a Hannon 3-pointer. Thomas More then went on a 10-0 run and never trailed by fewer than nine points the rest of the game.

(CORRECTION: An early version of this news release had the score 95-77 with Sherrieb scoring 10 points instead of 12. Westminster regrets the error.)
