Men's Basketball: Glass Scores Career-High 16 as Titans Lose to Juniata

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Senior guard Bobby Glass (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) scored a career-high 16 points for the Westminster College men's basketball team in the Titans' 75-65 loss at home against Juniata Monday night in non-conference action.

Glass led the Titans (0-9) in scoring on 6-10 shooting including 4-6 from 3-point range. Senior center/forward Steve Bielich (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) also scored 15 points to go with his team-high eight rebounds and junior forward Ryne Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) bucketed 11 points, all in the second half, to go with a team-high four assists and five steals.

David Thompson led the Eagles (2-6) with 24 points on 9-12 shooting from the floor, including 3-4 shooting from 3-point range. Ryan Jones also bucketed 10 points.

Both teams were even in rebounds (29-29) and turnovers (16-16) for the game and Juniata shot 51 percent (26-51) from the floor compared to Westminster's 41.5 percent (22-53).

The Titans held an early 9-3 lead, but once the Eagles went up 13-11 on a Jones jumper with 12:04 remaining in the first half Juniata never trailed for the rest of the game. Juniata led 32-27 at halftime and 43-54 midway through the second half on a Thompson 3-pointer.

Thompson later drained a 3-pointer to give Juniata its largest lead of the game with a 16-point, 64-48 bulge with 6:16 on the second-half clock. The Titans could only narrow that lead down to nine points

Westminster is off until it hosts Thomas More on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 4 p.m.
