Women's Basketball: Amy Dolsak Leads Titans Past Mount Union in OT

ALLIANCE, Ohio - Junior guard Amy Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) tied a career high with 19 points as the Westminster College women's basketball team came back to beat previously unbeaten Mount Union, 68-60, in overtime Saturday night on the road in non-conference action.

Dolsak, who also pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds in the game, posted her second career double-double. She shot 6-12 from the floor including 3-7 from 3-point range while also sinking all four of her foul shots.

Westminster (2-2) came from behind to secure the win as its eight-point differential to end the game was its largest lead of the game. The Titans led 21-15 with 8:27 left in the first half before the Purple Raiders (3-1) went on a 22-4 run that did not end until Dolsak's jumper with 18:11 left in the second half cut Mount Union's lead to 37-27.

Dolsak later drained a 3-pointer that drew the Titans within one point at 46-45 with 8:16 remaining. Dolsak sank a pair of free throws with 1:56 left to tie the game at 53-53.

Senior guard Gina Brunetti (Canfield, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) sent the game to overtime with a jumper that tied the game at 55-55 with nine seconds remaining. The Titans successfully defended the Purple Raiders' last-second shot to try to win the game.

Westminster trailed briefly in overtime, but a 3-pointer by junior Lynn Riley (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) with 4:01 left gave the Titans a 58-56 lead and they would never trail the rest of the way.

Brunetti and sophomore Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville, Ohio/Lowellville) were the other double-figure scorers for the Titans with 11 and 12 points, respectively. McCarthy also tied a career high with a game-high seven assists.

Kori Wiedt and Amanda Rose led Mount Union with 17 and 14 points, respectively.

Mount Union held a 59-36 rebound advantage but the Titan defense induced the Purple Raiders into shooting 26 percent (19-73) from the field compared to Westminster's 38 percent (22-58).

Westminster returns to action at Saint Vincent Wednesday at 6 p.m.
