Women's Basketball: McCarthy Sinks 16 Points in Titans' Loss to Adrian

ERIE, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost to Adrian, 57-45, Saturday night at the Penn State-Behrend Tip-Off Tournament. The Titans (0-2) will play Cazenovia in the consolation game on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs (2-1) advance to play the host Lions in the finals on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Sophomore guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville, Ohio/Lowellville) led the Titans with a career-high 16 points on 6-15 shooting from the floor while also dishing out a game-high four assists.

Junior guard Amy Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) bucketed nine points including a pair of 3-pointers. Dolsak, and her freshman sister Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald), led the Titans with six and seven rebounds, respectively.

Three Adrian players scored in double figures, led by Anita Stamps with 13 points. The Bulldogs shot 36.4 percent (20-55) from the field and the Titans shot 27.8 (15-54).

Adrian led 22-20 at halftime before the Bulldogs jumped to a 15-point, 38-23 lead at the midway point of the second half. Adrian would go up by as many as 20 points before Westminster whittled the lead down to six points with 1:00 remaining. Adrian outscored the Titans 9-3 in the final minute to secure the win.
