Men's Basketball: Several Titans Key in PAC Win Over Waynesburg

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team picked up its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win of the season with an 86-77 triumph over visiting Waynesburg Wednesday night at the Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

Sophomore forward Ryne Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) led the Titans with 25 points and 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. He also set a new career high with seven steals.

Senior forward Craig Hannon (New Castle, Pa./Union) also scored 21 points for his sixth 20-point game of the season.

Senior center Jake Zatchok (Berlin Center, Ohio/Western Reserve) had a career game as he tied a personal best with a season-high 10 points while establishing a new career high with 10 rebounds.

Senior guard/forward Chauncey Whitlow (Youngstown, Ohio/Woodrow Wilson) set a new season high with 16 points, including 5-12 shooting from 3-point range.

Junior guard David Richards (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) dished out a team-high six assists to go with his 10 points.

As a team, the Titans shot 40 percent (14-35) from behind the arc and 48.6 percent (34-70) overall from the floor.

Tim Drakely led the way for the Waynesburg (6-6, 1-3 PAC) with a game-high 29 points on 11-18 shooting from the field. Drakely scored 20 points in the first half to guide the Yellow Jackets to a six-point 45-39 lead at halftime.

Drakeley hit a 3-pointer to put Waynesburg up by as many as eight points (60-52) with 11:55 remaining in the game before Whitlow and Hannon hit from downtown on consecutive Westminster possessions.

Whitlow later hit a 3-pointer to put the Titans up by seven with 6:48 to go in the game, before Westminster maintained at least a five-point cushion down the stretch.

The Titans improve their record to 3-11 overall and 1-3 in the league as they travel to Thiel on Wednesday, Jan. 16, for an 8 p.m. start.
