Men's Basketball: Hannon Scores Season-High 27 in Titans' Loss to W&J

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost to Washington & Jefferson, 78-64, Saturday in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.

Westminster senior guard Craig Hannon (New Castle, Pa./Union) poured in a season-high 27 points, including 20 points on four 3-pointers in the first half alone. Hannon passed Dave Rankin (1,439 points from 1955-59) for eighth place on Westminster's career scoring list as Hannon now has 1,451 career points for his career.

Other double-figure scorers for Westminster included sophomore forward Ryne Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and senior guard/forward Chauncey Whitlow (Youngstown, Ohio/Woodrow Wilson) with 10 points apiece. Murray also led the Titans with eight rebounds and three steals. Junior guard David Richards (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) dished out a game-high six assists to go with his seven points.

Josip Lucic-Jozak and Wahab Owolabi led the Presidents with 25 and 21 points, respectively. The duo other led W&J with eight and six rebounds apiece.

W&J shot 48.1 percent (25-52) from the field and the Titans shot 40.4 percent (19-47). The Presidents held a 37-26 rebounding advantage.

The loss marked the first for the Titans (2-11, 0-3 PAC) against the Presidents (4-7, 1-1 PAC) in New Wilmington since the 1939-40 season.

Westminster returns to action at home against Waynesburg for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
