Men's Basketball: Bearcats Avenge Earlier Loss by Beating Titans

LATROBE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost its fourth straight game and its fifth straight on the road Saturday with an 87-60 setback at Saint Vincent.

Sophomore forward Ryne Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) led the Titans with 16 points and eight rebounds, while senior guard/forward Chauncey Whitlow (Youngstown, Ohio/Woodrow Wilson) bucketed 14 points and senior guard Craig Hannon (New Castle, Pa./Union) potted 12 points.

Ian McCollough led Saint Vincent with 31 points and 10 rebounds as one of four double-figure scorers for the Bearcats and helping his team out-rebounded the Titans, 42-29.

The Titans' record drops to 3-15 this year with one of their three wins accounting for one of Saint Vincent's (14-3) three losses, an 81-72 Westminster win at home on Dec. 1.

Shooting proved to be the difference in the game as Westminster shot just 35.0 percent (21-60) from the field, including 20 percent (7-35) from 3-point range, compared to Saint Vincent at 62.1 percent (36-58) from the floor.

The Bearcats led the entire came and by as many as 19 point in the first half before holding a 15-point, 38-23 lead at halftime. Saint Vincent would then hold at least a 20-point cushion for the final 17:12 of the second half.

Westminster returns to league action at home Wednesday vs. Grove City for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
