PITTSBURGH - The Westminster College women's basketball team picked up the eighth win in its last nine games with a 66-57 non-conference victory at Carnegie Mellon Tuesday night.
Westminster junior forward Terese Marszalek (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) led all scorers with a career-high 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field.
Junior guard/forward Emilee Ackerman (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and senior guard Desiree Sterling (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) also scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, to round out the Westminster double-figure scorers.
Ackerman also led the Titans with eight rebounds and five steals.
The game was tied on 10 occasions, including a 32-32 stalemate at halftime, before the Titans surged to a 10-point, 53-43 lead with 9:27 remaining. The Tartans could only cut the deficit to six points before Westminster successfully defending the lead to collect its fourth straight win.
Ashley Rothwell led the Tartans (5-5) with 18 points.
Westminster (8-3, 1-0 PAC) hosts Thomas More Saturday at 2 p.m. in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
