Women's Basketball: Westminster Defense, Rebounding Too Much For Saint Vincent in Road Win

LATROBE, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team improved its record to 9-4 on the season with a 67-51 win at Saint Vincent Wednesday night.

Junior guard/forward Emilee Ackerman (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) posted her second career double-double with 18 points and a career-high 12 rebounds to go with a game-high five assists.
Three other Titan starters scored in double figures, including sophomore guard Gina Brunetti (Canfield, Ohio/Cardinal) with 11 points and senior guard Rachel Eaton (Rimersburg, Pa./Union) and junior forward Terese Marszalek (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) with 10 markers apiece.

Senior forward Talley Felger (Petersburg, Ohio/Springfield Local) also tied a season high with 10 rebounds to go with four points, as the Titans held a 55-31 rebounding edge.

The Titan defense also held the Bearcats, led by Laura Klimchock's 26 points, to a scant shooting percentage of 26.2 (17-65), while Westminster was 44.4 percent (28-63) from the floor.

Westminster took a 13-0 lead before the Bearcats (3-8) scored their first points just over six minutes into the game. The Titans were up 29-11 at halftime and led by as many as 22 points (63-41 with 4:51 remaining) in the second half before securing the 16-point victory.

Westminster (9-4, 1-1 PAC) travels to Waynesburg Saturday at 5:30 p.m. for a Presidents' Athletic Conference game.
