Westminster posts 2-2 draw at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa.--The Westminster women's soccer team registered a 2-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) draw at Allegheny Wednesday night on the Robertson Blue Turf. 

Westminster is now 6-0-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the PAC. Allegheny sits at 2-4-2 overall and 1-0-2 in conference play.

The Titans kept Allegheny off the board through a first half stretch of pressure, with senior Emily Codere (Shelton, Conn., Shelton) making a pair of saves in the 27th minute before Allegheny produced a corner kick and two shots in the 39th minute. Senior Jocelyn Gratchic (Connellsville, Pa., Connellsville) put two shots on frame for the Titans, and freshman Amelia Brose (Houston, Pa., Chartiers-Houston) added another in the 37th minute. The half ended scoreless.

The Titans broke through in the second half with two goals in a two minute span, as senior Giulianna Russell (Kinston, N.C., Wayne Christian) scored off assists from freshman Quinn Arnold (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) and Gratchic in the 61st minute before Brose pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 63rd minute with her fifth goal this season. The goal was Russell's second of the year. The assist was Arnold's fourth of the season; it was Gratchic's first assist this year. 

Allegheny answered with goals in the 68th minute and 77th minute to tie the match. The Titans continued to press with three shots after the Gators' equalizer, including saved attempts by sophomore Zoe Puhala (Brockway, Pa., Brockway) and freshman Madeline Barr (Grove City, Pa., Grove City). 

The Titans put 10 of their 14 shots on goal.

Codere made eight saves for Westminster.
