Women's soccer wins at La Roche

PITTSBURGH, Pa.--The Westminster women's picked up a 3-0 shutout victory at La Roche Monday afternoon at the Baierl Athletic Complex.

Westminster improved to 6-0-0 with Monday's win. 

Freshman Madeline Barr (Grove City, Pa., Grove City) put the Titans in front in the 25th minute, scoring at 24:41 for a 1-0 lead. It was her third goal this year. The Titans generated pressure throughout the opening half, with senior Jocelyn Gratchic (Connellsville, Pa., Connellsville) having three shots saved and the team earning six total corner kicks. Westminster carried the 1-0 lead into halftime. 

The Titans put the match away in the second half with goals from freshman Ava Acalotto (Irwin, Pa., Norwin) in the 70th minute and Gratchic in the 72nd minute. Earlier, the Titans kept pressure on with multiple corners and saved shots from freshman Quinn Arnold (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) and Gratchic. It was Acalotto's first collegiate goal. The goal was Gratchic's third goal this season. 

Barr finished with three shots, including two on goal. Gratchic led the Titans with five shots, putting all five on goal.

Senior Emily Codere (Shelton, Conn., Shelton) played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded a shutout. It was her fifth this year. 

Westminster outshot La Roche 14-0, putting nine shots on target. The Titans finished with 10 corner kicks to the Redhawks' one. 

Up next:
Westminster will travel to Meadville, Pa. Wednesday to take on Allegheny. The match is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. on the Robertson Blue Turf.
