Kouvelas earns second PAC Newcomer of the Week award this year

TRAFFORD, Pa.--Westminster freshman Vasilis Kouvelas (Anthem, Ariz., Boulder Creek) earned Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Soccer Newcomer of the Week honors Monday afternoon.

This is Kouvelas' second PAC Newcomer of the Week award (Sept. 7).

A goalkeeper, Kouvelas went 1-0-1 with a shutout and seven combined saves last week for Westminster. He made four saves in a 1-1 draw with Thiel last Tuesday before securing his second shutout of the year with three stops in a 3-0 win Friday afternoon at Bethany. He had his first collegiate assist on freshman Zayden Herb's (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) first collegiate goal in the 64th minute.

Kouvelas' .833 save percentage and 5.00 saves per game average rank third in the PAC. His 1.00 goals-against average is fourth-best in the league.

Up next:
Westminster will travel to Meadville, Pa. Wednesday to take on Allegheny. The match is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m. on Frank B. Fuhrer '48 Field.
