Titans score 3-0 shutout at Bethany

BETHANY, W.Va.--The Westminster men's soccer team earned a 3-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Bethany Friday afternoon at Hoag Field. 

Friday's victory was Westminster's first at Bethany since a 2-0 win on Oct. 17, 2018. 

The Titans improved to 3-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the league. 

Freshman Kohen Salazar (San Angelo, Texas, Rockwall) scored off an assist from freshman Jagger Boyd (Pittsburgh, Pa., Avonworth) in the 26th minute. It was Salazar's first collegiate goal. The assist was Boyd's second of the year. The Titans stretched their lead to 2-0 in the 45th minute on sophomore Alexis Bennetot's (Miami, Fla., Florida Christian) fourth goal of the season. 

Freshman Zayden Herb (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) netted his first collegiate goal off an assist from freshman keeper Vasilis Kouvelas (Anthem, Ariz., Boulder Creek) in the 64th minute to push the Titans' lead to 3-0. It was Kouvelas' first collegiate assist. 

Kouvelas finished with three saves. It was his second shutout of the season. 

Westminster outshot Bethany 18-9 and had a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Titans had 11 corner kicks to two for the Bison. 

Up next:
Westminster will travel to Meadville, Pa. Wednesday to take on Allegheny. The match is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m.
