Men's soccer picked 11th in PAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

TRAFFORD, Pa.--The Westminster men's soccer program was picked to finish 11th in this year's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The results, voted on by the conference's 13 head coaches, were announced Thursday morning along with the PAC's Players to Watch List.

Westminster, led by second-year head coach Ryan Francis, received 24 points in this year's poll. Defending champion Grove City was named the preseason favorite, claiming the top spot with 132 points and 11 first-place votes. Franciscan followed in second with 120 points and the remaining two first-place votes, while Allegheny was third with 101 points.

The Titans had three returners appear on the league's Players to Watch List: senior Orrin Milcic (Butler, Pa., Homeschooled (Knoch)), junior Trent Davey (Butler, Pa., Slippery Rock) and sophomore Jackson Friday (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park). Milcic started all 18 matches last season, while Davey appeared in 14 matches with five starts and Friday started 13 of the 18 matches he appeared in.

Westminster opens the season at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1 in University Heights, Ohio against John Carroll. The Titans' home opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 12 against Mount Aloysius. The match is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. at the UPMC Sports Complex. On Tuesday, Sept. 15, Westminster wil kick off PAC play against Thiel. The league match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
