NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster softball team registered a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) split with rival Grove City Wednesday, scoring a 7-3 victory in game one before falling 6-1 in the nightcap.

Westminster moved its record to 15-7 overall and 10-2 in the conference.

Game 1: Westminster 7, Grove City 3
Trailing 1-0 after two-and-a-half innings, sophomore Morgan O'Brien (Coraopolis, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) delivered a two-run single in third to give Westminster a 2-1 lead. The Titans sent 11 batters to the plate in their five-run sixth. Junior Faith Jones' (Volant, Pa., Wilmington) sacrifice fly, followed by an RBI double by freshman Kylie Anthony (Harrison City, Pa., Penn-Trafford) and an RBI single by O'Brien, Westminster's lead swelled to 5-1. Freshman Sofia Ortiz (Erie, Pa., Fairview) drove in a run with a base hit before junior Ava Karpa (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) scored on a Grove City throwing error.

Sophomore Cheyenne Piper (Latrobe, Pa., Ligonier Valley) improved to 9-3 in the circle, allowing three runs (3 earned) on 11 hits with four strikeouts in the complete-game win.
