Westminster women eighth after opening round of Greenbrier Intercollegiate

WHITE SULFUR SPRINGS W.Va.--The Westminster women's golf team is in eighth place after Monday's opening round of the Greenbrier Intercollegiate Invitational.

The two-day, 10-team event is being played on the par-72 Meadows Course, located on the historic Greenbrier Resort.

Lynchburg leads the field with a team score of 309. Southern Virginia, the host of the event, is in second place with a 325. Westminster wrapped up Monday's round with a 357.

Sophomore Ava Liburdi (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) is tied for ninth place after shooting an eight-over 80. Junior Katie Rose Rankin (Sewickley, Pa., North Allegheny) is tied for 28th with an 88 while freshman CeCe Morgan (Fairview, Pa., Cathedral Prep) is 40th (93). Seniors Alyssa Rapp (Poland, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) and Olivia Kana (North Huntingdon, Pa., Greensburg Central Catholic) are tied for 44th (96).

Westminster has three freshmen players completing individually: Brooke Hart (Meadville, Pa., Meadville) is 48th (98), Madey Myers (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) is 50th (102) and Paige Ponteous (Butler, Pa., Butler) is tied for 53rd (113).
