Westminster scores 11-6 win at No. 8 Mount Union Sunday

ALLIANCE, Ohio--The Westminster baseball team used three three-run innings to earn an 11-6 victory over eighth-ranked Mount Union Sunday afternoon at Rafeld-Rogers Field.

Westminster improved to 26-10 this season. 

Westminster struck early with a three-run first. Freshmen Breckin Minich (New Bethlehem, Pa., Redbank Valley) and Grayson Eicher (Youngstown, Ohio, Boardman) had RBI singles before sophomore Jack Strausser (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) drew a bases-loaded walk. 

Junior Braden Zeigler (New Castle, Pa., Shenango) broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth with an RBI single. One batter later, Eicher delivered a two-run double. Mount Union cut the lead down to two, 6-4, in the home half of the fifth before Minich's RBI single, followed by Zeigler's run-scoring base hit, stretched Westminster's lead to four, 8-4.

The Titans added three additional runs in the seventh on a run-scoring base hit from junior Bryce Eberhart (Altoona, Pa., Altoona), junior Conner Adams' (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) RBI fielder's choice and a Minich sacrifice fly. 

Minich went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored while freshman Devin Mila (Davie, Fla., University School) was 3-for-4 with two walks and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot. 

Senior Jonathan Mollo (Germantown, N.Y., Germantown Central) took the no-decision, allowing three runs (3 earned) on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 3.0 innings. Sophomore Brandon Roher (Trafford, Pa., Penn-Trafford) earned the relief win, allowing two runs (2 earned) on three this with a pair of walks in 3.0 innings of work. It was his first collegiate victory. 

Up next:
Westminster is scheduled to travel to Gambier, Ohio on Wednesday to take on Kenyon. The first pitch of the single, nine-inning matchup is set for 4 p.m.
