Westminster rolls in Senior Recognition Day victory

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster men's lacrosse team earned a 20-3 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over visiting Washington & Jefferson Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Prior to the opening faceoff, Westminster recognized its nine seniors: Jahiem Hawkins (Huntington Station, N.Y., Huntington), Marshal Maguire (Arlington, Va., Wakefield), Zach Meszaros (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin), Kyler Nigliazzo (Montgomery, Texas, Magnolia West), Brady Page (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley), Zack Reid (Buffalo, N.Y., Frontier), Asher Silberling (Redondo Beach, Calif., Redondo Union), Jorden Tate (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) and Shawn Wooles (Hampton, N.H., Winnacunnet)

Ten different players scored goals for Westminster (10-6, 5-3 PAC). 

Nigliazzo finished with season-high four goals, a pair of assists and three ground balls. Reid netted a career-high four goals, one assist and one ground ball. Sophomore Ethan Kurtz (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) had two goals, two assists and three ground balls while Page added three goals. 

Sophomore Jack Steimle (Mount Sinai, N.Y., Mount Sinai) went a perfect 16-of-16 at the faceoff X and picked up a career-high 13 ground balls. Junior Dallas Myers (White Plains, Md., Maurice J. McDonough) Won 7-of-10 faceoffs and added two ground balls. Sophomore Jack Poller (Huntington, N.Y., Harborfields) finished with one assist, two ground balls and one three caused turnovers. 

Westminster outshot W&J 74-19 and finished with a 39-8 advantage in shots on goal. Westminster was successful on 16-for-17 clear attempts.

Westminster will wrap up its regular season schedule Wednesday at Allegheny (6-8, 4-4 PAC). Opening faceoff from Frank B. Fuhrer Field is set for 7 p.m.
