Westminster women suffer Senior Recognition Day loss to W&J

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster women's lacrosse team suffered a 16-8 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to visiting Washington & Jefferson Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Prior to the opening draw, Westminster recognized its six seniors: Isabella Cespedes (Merrick, N.Y., Sanford H. Calhoun), Chloe Courinos (Beaver Falls, Pa., Blackhawk), Michaela Neelin (Henrietta, N.Y., Rush Henrietta), Julia Ravazza (Twain Harte, Calif., Dublin), Giavanna Romano and Haley Wenzel (Coppell, Texas, Coppell)

Ravazza finished with four goals, a pair of assists and one draw control. It was her seventh game recording five or more points this season. Wenzel had one goal and one assist while Neelin, Young and sophomore Allyssa Anstis (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) each scored once. Young added six draw controls. 

Freshman Mady Warner (Concord Township, Ohio, Riverside) finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Cespedes had two ground balls and two caused turnovers. 

W&J outshot Westminster 32-21 and had a 19-14 edge in shots on goal. W&J went 11-of-12 in clears while Westminster went 10-of-20. 

Up next: 
Westminster will travel to Pitt-Bradford Wednesday. Opening draw is scheduled for 6 p.m.
